Battle Through the Heavens Anime Finale: Could the Movie Arrive in November?

The Battle Through the Heavens anime is nearing its conclusion. According to the announced episode count, Episode 217 is expected this week, leaving two more episodes and the Battle Through the Heavens: The Battle of Two Emperors movie.

If the series follows its current schedule, the anime could wrap up on November 15, with the movie arriving on November 21. But could the film premiere sooner? A November 16 release would keep the momentum going and could set anime fans talking across the community.

The Battle Through the Heavens manga adaptation also came to an end this year. For many fans, that means another piece of their youthful memories is reaching its final chapter. The question now is whether the anime and movie can give the story a satisfying send-off.
Why did the Battle Through the Heavens novel end?
Author Tian Can Tu Dou once discussed the novel’s ending during a livestream. He said that, by the later stages of writing Battle Through the Heavens, he had run out of inspiration and no longer knew what direction to take the story. That, he explained, was why it ended when it did.

Even so, the ending makes sense within the story. In the final stretch, Hun Tiandi obtains the embryonic Emperor-grade pill inside the Ancient Emperor’s Cave Mansion and is on the verge of becoming a Dou Di. Xiao Yan, meanwhile, has practiced the Flame Mantra and inherited the legacy of the Ancient Emperor Tou She. That gives him the strength to stand against Hun Tiandi, protect the Central Plains, and bring down the Hun Clan.

It’s also easy to forget how young the author was when he wrote the novel: Tian Can Tu Dou was just 19. Some fans joke that the real genius wasn’t Xiao Yan, but the teenager who created Battle Through the Heavens.

Is a Battle Through the Heavens sequel possible?
Some fans have asked Tian Can Tu Dou to write a second Battle Through the Heavens novel, but he has not started one. Building a new story would mean developing an entire setting and power system. There is also the question of rights: the novel’s rights are held by Yuewen and Qidian, and Martial Universe faces a similar situation.

A sequel therefore seems unlikely for now. If the author and rights holders were to work together, though, the possibility would remain open.

Tian Can Tu Dou has since written The Divine Skills User and connected it with several of his other works. One notable link is the “plant the Divine Bone, open the Divine Path” hint at the end of The Origin—along with the appearance of Xiao Yan’s legacy, the Buddha’s Fury Flame Lotus.

Could Martial Universe Season 7 take over next?
With the Battle Through the Heavens anime approaching its finale, the completed seventh season of Martial Universe may be ready to take its place. Both series are based on novels by Tian Can Tu Dou, though their adaptation rights are also held by other parties.

In Season 7, Lin Dong enters Dao Sect, where he meets Ying Huanhuan—the Ice Lord—and encounters major opportunities. He also faces the Yuan Gate in a life-or-death conflict, fighting to defend Dao Sect’s honor and help the sect grow stronger.

The upcoming story arc is packed with intense battles. If the adaptation stays faithful and the production gives the key moments room to breathe, Season 7 could make a strong impression. The storyline in which the three brothers fight the Yuan Gate and are forced to retreat from the Eastern Xuan Domain could even make compelling material for a theatrical movie.

If Battle Through the Heavens concludes around November 21, Martial Universe Season 7 could potentially follow in December. A year-long broadcast is also a possibility, giving fans plenty to look forward to—though the release timing has not been confirmed.

That’s all for this update, along with my personal take. What do you think about the possible Battle Through the Heavens movie date and Martial Universe Season 7’s release window? Share your thoughts in the comments.
